Hey I just bolted in a tranny out of a 94-95 stang and everything worked fine except I cant get the starter to fit in right. All I ever heard was just to make sure I use the bellhousing that comes with the newer tranny. Do I need a different starter or is it just me not doing something right?

so what do I ask for at the store a 94 5.0 starter? Also what guage wire should I run? Everyone makes it seem like its a direct swap.

It should be a direct swap, with no starter change required. The difference between the two is the 94-95 has the solenoid on the starter itself and it's a bit smaller. It's a fairly common swap, since it's a higher torque unit than the Fox starter. What doesn't fit right about the old starter?

You do know that the AOD-E is electronic and your original AOD isnt, right?
Im thinking youre going to issues with it shifting if you havent changed anything else besides the tranny itself.

Just assuming it originally came with an AOD.
