I'm looking for a nice dark grill for my GT, minus the fogs. Does anybody know if the V6 grill will fit or can be modified? Apologies if this has been covered already!!
The GT grille can be made to fit into the V6 with some minor cutting that is not visible. (There are fog light kits on ebay with complete instructions.) That would seem to say to me that the GT grille is bigger. If that's the case, the V6 grille is probably too small.
Street Scene makes some black powdercoat diamond grilles with the inboard mounted fogs and black chrome diamond grilles with the outboard mounted fogs.
I have a friend who owns a big body shop. He wanted a GT for his wife but at the time could only find a V6. He tried to put a GT grill in it, but without serious mods, it wouldn't fit. There are lots of subtle differences between the two cars that you don't notice until it comes time to buy parts.
The GT grill will fit, as I said earlier. I know because my V6 has a GT grill in it. From the exterior you would never know. You will only notice it from inside the engine compartment if you know what to look for.
and i have a complete v6 bumper and grills, no fogs. if your interested, $100. im in so cal. right now its windveil blue but easily painted. it came to me as the bright red. after i installed it the wife didnt like it so i changed back to the fogs.
Both the V6 and GT grilles, are the same size..However ! they're not interchangeable, as the grille fasteners aren't in the same location, nor match up with the fastener slots, in the bumper cover..In other words ! you would also need to swap out you're GT bumper cover, and replace it with a V6 cover, in order to do the Grille swap without any modification requirements..Otherwise ! you'll be required to do some fabricating, because of the differences between the GT and V6 bumper covers..
