Righto, while my mustang was in the shop, they messed it up or something... The exhaust system is really wacked out now.

Whenever I go over a bump, the axle rubs on the exhaust pipe. Evidently this was happening with the previous driver because there was already a spot where the pipe was nearly rubbed through.

Plus, I noticed I had a lot harsher (ricier) tone and I discovered that the seal in front of the muffler was shot, and even at idle I was getting just as much a wind out the front of the muffler as out the exhaust tip.

I had heard that you can get some fairly good performance by installing a newer style V6 muffler in there, so I was thinking rather than get the exhaust fixed with fox body stuff, I'll do a swap I had been intending, and should be rather cheap at a junkyard.

So this leads to my main question. Is the V6 muffler a direct bolt on? Is the muffler in front of the axle like fox body stangs? This might actually be a good time to get the high flow cat and full cat back exhaust, any cheap reccomendations? (I'm not looking to spend any more than 500 at all, and prefferably less, broke college student.)

I don't know about the V6 exhaust setup but mine cost roughly $500. Header ($180), and Maganflow cat ($100) and Dynomax muffler/tailpipe ($200). I paid WAY too much for the tailpipe ($150) so get a cheaper one off Ebay or the junkyard and you could cut down the cost significantly. Note that my Dad welded the intermediate pipes and that will cost extra if you have a shop do it.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

Not the best quality and it could be a longer clip but there it is.

Notice any gains with that Header? I had a super turbo on my old 2.3 and it seemed like it was bit deeper than yours is. Im assuming thats from the cat and header.

Yea the header definitely freed up some power from 2500/2750 RPM+ but only up until around 65; after that as we all know there's nothing left in the motor. The idle is real deep but the throttle is obnoxious, I'm pretty sick of it.
