These canisters suppose to help out vacuum issues with your brakes when you're running a cam. DO they actually work? I've never seen anybody with it on there cars or even ask about them. I'm looking at the ones from summitracing.com (part# sum-g1464). I did develop an issue when I had my set up installed but just never thought about fixing it untill now. Plus I'm in the process of putting on rear disc as we speak. What do you guys think?

Try the local junkyards -- most any newer cars have the multi-sphere cannisters under the hood/front end somewhere. Ought to be able to pick up some for next to nothing. Don't forget to get a check valve to go with it - gotta have the cannister hold the vacuum when you step on the gas.

Check valve? How does this thing install. I did a quick google search but turned up nothing.

Vacuum check valve - you've got to have one so you 'trap' the vacuum in the cannister. Install the check valve so that the manifold can pull (suck) on the cannister, but you can't blow into the cannister. That way when you step on the gas, and the vacuum in the intake disappears, the check valve closes trapping the vacuum in your cannister - so it's there to power your brakes.

All 87-93s have a vacuum ball in the passenger fender.

LIke said, you can find them on many yard cars and trucks. The Chevy trucks have them mounted to the hood, 2 minute removal there if you want an extra one in the system.

That allows changes to the climate controls while cruising under low vaccuum. It does nothing for the brakes.

Would that be the check valve on the top? Should I get a vacuum gauge with this thing?
