Value of a mustang(modded) goes down a lot?

If the mods were not done up exactly the way I'd do them up myself, any offer that I might make would definitely drop - and that's assuming that I'd still consider buying that specific car. I can justify making my own mods for whatever target I'm aiming my car to be but not if that would have to include undoing somebody else's mods as well. Especially if they're appearance or specifically drag-race in nature.

This is what I had before and still got 11k for it. 07 v6 with 25k miles on it. spec clutch stage 1 and true dual flowmaster exhaust also.

Sold it almost a year ago too. mind you we gave it to a douchebag dealership in Huntington Beach, CA.

So, here's an example I'd like you guys to critique. I have my 09 for sale, and even with a down market, I feel it's just not getting the offers I think it should. Do you think the mods are hurting me. Here's the ad as it stands on Autotrader today:

May I ask why your selling it? Im keeping my California special for life. making it retro. gonna keep it clean and nice, put performance parts on it when the stock break down. its my life project. and how much are you selling it for. I bought mine for 22k at a dealer after tax and all that bullcrap. they were getting rid of cars for the 2012s coming in, orignally priced at 25,000 with 31k miles on it. privately the car could of sold for 28k. this was about a year ago. if your car is clean and youre selling it privately you may have a chance to pcoket a bit mmore. and I wish I found one in grabber orange. seems like there are too many. wouldve been better to keep as my classic.
If it was me since the performance white with the cali special package is sexy, I would keep it. if youre up for it.

Doesn't seem you'd have to, since you still have all of the original parts should any buyer prefer to return the car to a more completely original condition.

I would love to keep it, but financial conditions dictate otherwise. Priced at $21K OBO.

21k isnt too bad of a price I tihnk. I just kelly blue booked it and it came to 19k....you should go to kbb.com and make sure everything is correct and calculate it. it gives you 4 prices. excellent, very good, good, and fair. the excellent was 19,288....

could be the zipcode and I might of not put in the right information. my zipcode is 91709 for southern california. so if youre in a better area it could sell for more. It is pretty bad over here. my brother got a 2012 chevy hhr for 11700 with 30k miles on it and 1.000 cash back, 12 months road assitance and other htings...dealers are stressin out. Especially at Chino Hills ford in my area just re-opened after the owner commited suicide for financial reasons...

I have to say that I have bought and sold quite a few cars over the years to dealers and and private party. What I found is that the more that the dealer either had to change what was done if they wanted to retail it off their lot or if it was to the point that it was too far and had to go wholesale affects what they will give for the car.
For the private party I found that ligth mods, maybe catback, and a drop in K and N, and leaving the wiring untouched. The newer the car the less the amount of mods. The older the car the more tasteful and conservative the mods.
The value can be decided by who wants the car, the more they want it the more they will pay. this is also taking in to account how soon or haw bad you need to sell it.
I draw on my experience since I started at my dad' s used car lot in 1983. we specialized in the Mopar muslecars.

I'm no expert, but the 2013 model is out. 2012 models can be had for really good prices. All of that has to affect the price of a 2009 which is now four years old.
