I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

purely for purposes of how much I want to insure my car I am wondering if putting completely new/like new parts on my car will adjust the value?

THe vehicle had 225k miles when I stripped it down and honestly was in poor condition. Based upon what the car was worth when I bought it, I opted strictly for collision and would write the car off if it was in an accident. Now that I have pumped a lot of time/money in the car, it looks, runs, and feels a lot better. I would now say the car is in fair/good condition as it still needs more work to be perfect. Would all the new drive train, suspension, and interior parts be enough to say the car was worth enough to warrant insuring the vehicle for more money or will it always be a 225k+ mile fox?

Personally, at this point in time I think the a 225k Fox is just a 225k used car, regardless of what has been replaced. That said, it would make sense to insure it better to cover yourself for whatever $$ you have invested int it.

This is what I'm doing. My fox has 109,000 and is going through a restoration project right now. i have every receipt and took pics. I have gone through the drivetrain, suspension, fuel and brakes and now the body. I put has much NOS parts has possible. I'm going for agreed value policy w/o restrictions, the car connot be a daily. I will have to take all my info and pics to an appraiser and he/she will value the car. either go by the receipts and then add them to the insured value and see what they say or getting it appraised. I know what will happen in my case since i have been working with the agent throughtout my project but I'm not totally sure about your situation.

I don't necessarily agree with this.. fox mustangs in good, not overly modified condition are becoming hard to find.. original or not! Sure its not worth what an all original unmolested low mile fox is but there are people out there who will pay more for a car in which they dont have to worry about replacing weather stripping, moldings, window motors, door locks, etc.. etc....

He's not done yet and is asking if it is worth insuring for more at this time.

I'm curious to see what you find, I ran into nothing but stumbling blocks when I was looking for agreed value insurance for my car. I talked to several companies, too. It's frustrating, they either expect you to be just a regular joe with a boring DD or some freak with a museum car that never sees the light of day. Not a lot of good options in between, from what I've found.

In my situation I drive the car to and from work (7 miles round trip) as long as it doesn't look like rain, so its in all purposes a daily. Pretty sad that it gets better mileage than a truck. I guess honestly I just need to talk to my insurance and see what they say. I have reciepts for everything bought in the last year, but a lot of the parts I have had for a very long time and never used.

I looked into that, and what I found was that as soon as you start talking "modifications", rates go up exponentially. It's disheartening.

The only real "modification" is the rims and 5 lug set up. The engine is gt40 based which I consider stock or so close to as not matter and the suspension is from a mach 1. No real departure there. Everything else is oem replacement.

I was talking to Hagerty and they had no problem with my 88 being covered for 8k, they did have a problem with my wife's 01 and that it was newer than my DD. something about they figured that i would drive it over my beat up old truck, guess they never heard of the daily driver.
