valve cover clearance?

I run AFR 165s with Pro-Magnum 1.6RRs stud mounted. I chose to use Trick Flow's valve covers. When I installed the intake, I had to use a phenolic spacer and longer bolts (duh) to clear the valve covers. The stock ones just teeter tottered on the rockers. Hope this helps/gives you an idea of what to expect.

I am going to get dyno'd this weekend or next, I'll keep you posted on the results. I was bone stock before the H/C/I swap (which also included full exhaust, maf, injectors, t/b, pump, etc). It does rev like a beast now :D

Assuming the rest of your engine is up to snuff, you should get a nice punch from the AFR's. VC clearance is very dependent on whether or not you went with pedestal or stud mount, as well as the length of the studs and the chosen rocker. A cheap solution is to get valve covers from a Fox body. You'll have to clearance them a little (easy, since they're aluminum) but they're much taller than stock 94/95 covers. With any kind of taller cover you might need to grind a tiny bit from the bottom of the EGR to get clearance.

I have AFR 165 w/stud mount and 1.7 FRPP rockers. I'm using Fox valve covers with the passenger side oil baffle cut out. I also had to grind off the bottom portion of the egr mount (Cobra upper intake). You will also need to carefully bend the oil filler tube forward to allow room for the throttle body. Keep an eye on the bottom brass vacuum fitting, located on the rear underside of the cobra's upper plenum, as it may need to be screwed in more to avoid hitting the driver's valve cover. I did not use a spacer.

I just bought those valve covers your talking about (the Cobra ones) and they are sitting right next to me...they are very nice and I was told they will clear my 1.6 Scorpion stud mounted RR's...and my Performer intake (no spacer)...but I might have to remove the oil baffle (my stock ones don't have it on there)...or grind the baffle down a bit...

5.0droptop runs these valve covers with this 1.72 Scorpion RR's...

Now this is on a fox though...
