So I’m putting the final touches on my 69 coupe, just completely restored. Rebuilt 351c, just changed the shift module, engine running Great, shifting great. Got the new carb tuned in, timing perfect, etc. started it up, put it her in reverse to back out of the garage and my son starts waving me to shut it off and smoke everywhere. I get out and there is a oil drip every 1” all the way out of my garage. I get under the car and it looks like a bad valve cover leak. The engine has been run several time since rebuild so why al the sudden it just starts pouring oil. Anyway, we removed the cover, installed new phelpro gaskets and started it up and same thing. Torqed the nuts a little bit more and still leaks. I’ve got aluminum covers, I put good gaskets on it, we didn’t over torque them, so what gives. I hate to perm the thing all up. I just ordered new aluminum covers, & new gaskets in case the old ones were warped or something. Any suggestions before I have the same issue with new ones.

Make sure the gasket hasnt bowen inward between bolts ,the best thing to do is tack grip the gasket to the valve cover and it will stop this

I usually glue them to the VC with 3M weatherstrip adhesive.
