valve covers

Sounds kinda stupid but want to make sure before removeing, do i need to drain the oil before removeing my valve covers. And are the stock cavers on a 93 5.0 paintable?

The oil sits in the bottom of the engine in the pan when the engine's not running - gravity and all that. No need to drain. The covers are paintable - be sure to clean and sand; wipe down with acetone before painting to remove any skin oils. And use a paint that will stand up to engine temps - most engine enamels should work fine.

Thanks for the info i didnt think that i needed to drain oil and i thought that they could be painted just wanted to verify.
