I was looking over the heads i planned to use on my engine. they ar 68 302 4v heads and when i was getting ready to sandblast them so i was cleaning up a bit and noticed that one of the exhaust valves valve guide is cracked. the part where the valve stem comes up through. it is cracked down to the base down one side. is it possible to fix this or am i gonna have to junk my heads.

thanks,
tommy

valve guides are often replaced. Get a quote from your machine shop.

Yeah... the guides are about 110.00 to install bronze guides.. dont have then install the cast iron ones back in!! you WILL need hard exhaust seats also for the unleaded gas of today!! and probably valves also!! I would get a quote on the NEEDED repairs to the C8 heads and then bounce it against a set of E7s with screw in studs ( machine work and parts), cool?? then have the E7s milled .035-.040 and you will be at the 54-56 CC chambers of the 68 302s Cool?? saving the extra cost on valves, guides, seats.... blah...blah... Just a thought!!

Just me............................
