Valve Train Noise, Help....

Ok, I just had my motor rebuilt, I have stock cams. When I start it up the valve train sounds like a singer sewing machine for 10 or 15 minutes. After you drive it around some the noise reduces, not as loud when the motor is warm up.

What could be wrong? I'm also down on power so I'm checking the valve timing.

Sounds silly but have you checked the oil level? If you have access to an aftermarket gauge, how does the oil pressure look during that 10-15 minutes?

oil pressure good, level in on fill

What weight oil? Did the shop put oil in or did you? Could be the wrong viscosity. Try changing the oil to what is recommended.

I changed it, they put in 5w30 to break it in, I switched it to 5w20 when I got it home.

I noticed tonight when the car running I'm creating a huge vaccuum in the valve cover, I have to pull the oil cap hard to get it off while the car running.
