Ok do i have this right?

1. The camshaft touches the roller lifters, that touch the pushrods, which touches the rockers, which touches the valves to open which are moved back into closed posttion by the valve springs?
Is that sequence correct?

Now when I swap my intake for a eddy performer and i have the valve covers off. What all can i do that is easy to get to.

2. For example, can i change my roller rockers, springs, and push rods while the valve covers are off? or only the roller rockers and valve springs?

3. And will the 1.7 cobra roller rockers let me upgrade to an E303 (crane 2040) cam?

4. And how hard is it while the lower intake and valve covers are off is it to change the timing chain, lifters, and camshaft?

5. Or should i make them two seperate jobs for simplicity sake.
Just do the rockers and springs while the valve covers are off,
and then another day do the timing chain, lifters, and camshaft, and leave the pushrods alone.

Please give me some advice so i have the proper parts before I begin the job. Please refer to the numbered questions for your answers for simplicity sake. Thanks. I really do appreciate it

1...Yes

2...Yes, you can chg all of those...the springs are funky...you need either compressed air or another method to keep the valve in its closed or UP position, otherwise it can drop...NOT COOL...

3...??? don't really have the answer to this one...

4...its not any harder...prolly easier, as you have all the stuff outta the way...its just time consuming to swap the cam out..valvetrain needs to be readjusted, dizzy has re-set...radiator has to come out, AC condenser has to be "repostioned" or lifted outta the way to pull the cam.

5...I would round up all the stuff and nail it in one shot...why do step 2, reassy it, then undo it again??? undoing the rockers and pulling the pushrods and even the lifters has to be redone when you do step 5..

Hope that helps some....

You don't need different rocker arms to upgrade to a different camshaft although that is suggested. I would use only 1.6 rockers, not 1.7. The 1.7's change the lift figures on the cam, and will mess with the stock springs. Plus, 1.6 rockers will fit under the valve covers with stock heads, 1.7's will not without modification.

I would not change the cam until you have changed the heads and the intake first. Our stock cam isn't that bad. Wait until you pull the heads, then change the cam. It's much much easier to pull the cam when the heads are off.
