Paxton makes a rather nice kit for the Novi 2000 . 4 days ( 13 hrs of install time) and my car was up and running again.

I should have never planted the seed in your mind..

IMO, Supercharged cars are a dime a dozen ( been there).
Thing is, not many people can say yea its turbocharged, and i built it. Theres more pride/respect in doing it that way. But hey, each have there up and downsides.. My Vortech took all of half a day to install, My turbo kit took about 5 weeks, working weekends. Both made great power, theres no question about that.

I feel for the folks who look down on turbo mustangs, the power they can make is just sick!

I want a turbo mustang in the worst way, but funds don't allow for it now. Stick with it, it will SO be worth it when its done.

I don't think people look down on them (I sure don't) it is just they are such a PITA to install and get tuned correctly that it is so much easier to just bolt on a S/C and drive.

i dont understand the whole thing about tuning troubles.. Why would a turbo have more tuning issues vs a blower.. Ive ran both, and had to do equal amount of tuning for each.

Turbo kit does take more time to install/fab, vs a blower. that is true.
Better comparison would be bolting on a blower, and full exhuast, vs bolting on a turbo kit..

I never really understood the tuning problems with a turbo over a supercharger. I just hope I will be able to run fine on 10psi without any problems... Dont have the money for a tuning device or dyno tune.

Dude, if you don't have the means to have your car tuned then you should not put a turbo kit on your car...simple as that. There's way too much at stake to just install the stuff and "hope" you'll be fine. I wouldn't even run 2psi until I had a dyno tune, much less 10.

If you don't have the money now, do yourself (and your car) a favor and wait until you have the cash to get it tuned before you do all that. Don't just throw the turbo kit on and cross your fingers.

I'm gonna run it N/A for awhile until I have the funds. Heard you can go 10psi safely on our cars.

cant you just stick the wastegate acuators open, this way the car is drivable, until you can get it tuned, since its your daily driver.

If you have 42's a matching MAF, and turn the base timing down to 8* , or lock it at like 18-20*, set up the base presure to 45psi, and i highly doubt youll have a problem, if you dont beat on it too much.

Shi*, i ran mine on 19's without an FMU for a day, and didnt kill it.. making 320+RWHP
( 10psi vortech)

Yea, I can just leave the actuators off actually, the exhaust gas should keep them opened and boost down.

Right, you can usually be OK without a tune if you keep your foot out of it...but it's going to be damn tempting to mash that go-pedal the first time an 03 Cobra or Z06 pulls up next to him.

Turbos are much trickier in the sense to tune because a properly matched turbo will reach full boost much faster, usually around 3200-3500.

A supercharger has to be spun and makes boost according to RPM, which makes it much easier to tune. A turbo will make full boost at 30% throttle and 100% throttle, which (sometimes) can really be tricky to tune.

I'm thinking more like 2600-3000 rpm when I see full boost. We'll see once everything it on and ready for it.
