Is there anything that can be done to clean out the heater/ a/c vents. I know the newer cars have cabin filters. I know there was some kind of mold killer liquid you can pour in there but I don't have mold just smells like great grandpa
Well, I found something that sort of worked. Last summer I left my car sitting under some trees, and after that it smelled like rotting leaves every time I turned on the fan. I tried just about everything to get the smell out, it was hard, I used bleach, perfumy stuff, even threw a chunk of an air freshener down inside the heater box. With all that it more or less worked. I think the bleach helped a lot but I can't guarantee anything.
Sorry, I forgot to put that in my post. what I actually did was thin the bleach out with water (about 3 parts bleach to one part water, something like that) and put it in a spray bottle. Then I pulled off the cowl grille and started the car and turned on the fan, and sprayed the bleach solution back into where the car pulls in air for the vents (it's on the passenger side way back under there)
