Vert top protectant?

The top on my 89 GT vert needs something for UV protection and cleaning. I went to the parts stores in town today. But came up with nothing they would suggest.

They had a product called Nu Vinyl, and a bottle of meguiars #40 rubber/vinyl spray.

I googled and came up with the ragg top product line. But I was hoping to avoid ordering and waiting.


What do you guys use?

No need to stain to protect it if you like the color already, but Theplanet's recommendation of a coat of poly is right on the money. Since the bar is outside, I suggest a marine varnish which will hold up against the weather better than a regular poly.
And as her husband said, scuff it up and pour the plastic cover coat, making sure it's perfectly level of course. We don't want any ripples as it dries.

From a former convertible owner...
303 is the only way to go

There is a kit available for either vinyl or cloth tops.

Well, I gave it a new custom title. She can Shellack all of her vert tops on a different forum.

I'm guessing you have a vinyl top, so this is the kit I would recommend
