Man I'm about to take the plunge and get a black cloth top for my car. I am too chicken to try to do it myself though - looks like WAAAY too much work for something that I want to work right the first time.

There's a reputable looking vendor on eBay selling the cloth top, pads, cables and heated glass for about $600. The vinyl top kits are on eBay as well.

I called around town and got quotes to install the top and it was between 250-400 on average for labor.

I bought a top from M&T Manufacturing (http://mtmfg.com/cgi-local/search.cgi) three years ago and had it installed. The installer was impressed with the fit and the price at the time of $116.00 (no glass). I just recently discarded the install instructions but I believe they can be had from M&T's site.

BTW why do you need new glass? The rear window is separate from the top and can be used with the new top.

Vinyl is what comes stock on our cars but cloth looks a lot better. Spend the little extra and get the cloth top.
