very confused and up the creek

here is my problem. I had lent my car to a friend and some engine damage resulted. after beating my friend about the head for several hours, we pulled the bottom end of the motor apart and discovered that , even though it never actually spun a bearing, it did beat them up pretty bad. What I'm looking at now is having to replace the crank and the bearings.
what i have is 2003 mach 1 with a manual transmission. the crank has an eight bolt pattern so i am assuming that it has a forged crank. i would be looking for a kit to replace this but i cannot seem to find any. everything that i seem to find that has a kit is for a 96-02 vin code v.
will this fit in my car without having to change anything else? anyone know of a kit that would work for not too much money?

take it to a machine shop and have them inspect the crank. if it can clean up at .010 then just have it turned and buy matching bearings. if you did not spin a bearing then you can reuse the rods if you want, just have inspected and replace the bolts. It all is dependent on the money you have/want to spend

Definately keep the origional crankshaft. As mentioned, bring it to a machine shop to be checked out. If it didn't actually spin the bearing, it may be possible to just polish the journals and run standard size bearings. If not, you can have the crank cut smaller for .010 over bearings. However, be aware that most machine shops can not cut the crank themselves. They'll either send it out, or recommend a place to go.
If you aren't confident in reassembling the engine, you may want to have a competent machine shop do that as well. Just depends on your skill level and confidence.
