As I was letting it warm up before leaving work it died. It would not restart and I could no longer hear the fuel pump prime.Replaced the pump, still nothing. Replaced the pump relay and the eec relay, no go. Next up ignition switch and cylinder, nope. (I checked the inertia switch and even bypassed it, no help)

I was focused on fuel not hearing the pump prime but then decided to check spark, none. It had a tune up and a new coil only a couple of months ago. Replaced the ICM, still nothing.

Brought my code reader into work finally to try to see what I messed up on and could not get it to even show that it was connected to the computer. I have used it quite a few times before so I know it used to hook up to my car.

So, no fuel pump priming, no spark now, and a code reader will not even talk to it.

Ideas? Computer? I really miss driving my car.

I would say that it is the EEC, but of course i could be worog. Ssee if you can get another one to try, even if it was from the junkyard,

Edit: Just read the rest of your post and saw that you tried to read the codes already and got nothing...which is a good sign of a dead EEC. Still try to get a spare used one to try and see if it works. What code reader did you use. Im not even sure if an OBD II scanner will connect but if thats what was used then it wouldnt work anyway

Check the EEC power relay. If that's no good, nothing will work.

Well, does anyone have a spare computer for an '88 2.3 A4LD? I'll post in the wanted section too but since I have this thread already going and probably more people who would have one to sell will see this first.

If anyone has any other ideas besides the computer please toss them out because I really am lost on this one.

just wondering where is the EEC relay and what does it look like? would it still run with a bad relay or just not be able to scan ?

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

the relay provide power to the EEC so the car will not start or scan codes without it.

the ECC relay shows to be by the EEC in the RH side kickpanel.

should have power at all time on the BK/O wire, power with key on R/LtGn and R, ground on BK/LtG

the Fuel Pump relay is under the driver's seat and is green.

I have checked all the fuses multiple times. Like I said I replaced the eec and pump relay and pretty much everything else. Everything seems to have power at the places it should, I've run the meter all over checking.

As for the fusible links are they all right off of the solenoid? Isn't it noticable if the links blow? It all looks good.
