like the title says i have very little money to spend, but i would really like to do a turbo swap. any suggestions.

Keep saving for the swap?
I'd like to make my 2.3 go fast too, because right now it's slow as balls... but I know one day I'll be running boost. Picturing the sweet sound of a BOV keeps me goal-oriented

how many miles are on your engine now?

Simple. Find a turbo coupe in your area, buy it and use it as a donor car. Motor, tranny, rearend, computer, brakes, seats, etc. Tons of stuff you can swap over, plus a million extra nuts, bolts, brackets, etc. Donor car is definitely the cheap (and smart) way to go. Check out mine. '89 Mustang 'vert with an '87 TC donor car.

Yeah you might be able to get the whole car, in running condition, for like 300 bucks, check turbo ford.
