Vibration @ 40 Mph

Motor mounts ok, tires ok. Vibrates both in and out of overdrive. No vibration above or below 40 mph. 3.8 automatic.

You have to be more specific, location of the vibration would be helpful.

Thanks, both through the steering wheel and the floor.
I investigated more and discovered I have defective motor mounts that are most likely the problem. Also a defective tie rod end.
Thanks again.

heck the condition of your driveshaft U-joints and engine balancer as well. Both are known to go bad after a few years.

+1 on checking the u joints. Also, if you have one bad motor mount, might as well do the other and the tranny mount.

Thanks for the input. Both motor mounts and transmission mount were bad. Did it myself in my garage. It did take me the better part of the day, but I am over 80 years old so I just don't move as fast as I once did. Also did the U Joints at the same time.

Wow, 80 years of age and still jacking up a 3500 lb. car and replacing motor-mounts?!?!?:stig:
