Vibration problems

Im no expert but it sounds like you need a brake job. I had that happen to my benz when i braked at high speed. the left side pads where more worn down then the right so i replaced the rotors and pads. Fixed my problem. But you should be able to just resurface yours rotors. But that should not happen at 13k miles.

Yes sounds like a warped rotor, my 98 Z28, and most Z's had that problem.

I concur with the warped rotor. ? on the vibration issue. Have you had any other TSBs done or had the vehicle racked for service? The 2 piece driveshaft with U-joint is a delicate little thing. Hahahahha...Prone to pinion angle movement and/or damage if racked improperly.

Yes, I did have it check in for gas tank replacement and front "pop" noise fixed. Actually, now that you mention it, the weird vibration during deceleration started after the TBS were done.

I thouhgt that it could be a warped rotor, but I didn't think that it could be possible in 9 months old car. I used to have this problem with my 89' 5.0L and have to resurface the rotors constantly. I fix it by changing the stock rotors with a crossdrill ones and I have never happened again. Should I change the stock rotors to better ones or should I take my 2005 to the dealer for service? Do the warranty covers the rotors?

Let me tell you, I hate my dealer warranty services. They took in my car for 3 days just to check the 2 TBS problems and a week to repair them. I hate to leave my car with anyone. Maybe I'm better changing the rotors by my self than leaving my car too long in the dealer.

i hate this too. it was over a month for the gas tank replacement!!!! then they damaged my exhaust too! warranty usually does not cover brakes. you might be able to squeeze the brakes out under warranty if you are in good with the dealer, or at least the dealer might fix it for you at no cost to keep you happy. if you do indeed have a warped rotor, you might want to also check your driving style. repeated hard braking is hard on the stock parts. try to keep more distance between you and the other cars, and also watch the pedestrian crosswalk signals for signs that the stoplights are going to change. that way you can start slowing down in advance, thus causing less wear on your brakes. just some thoughts, maybe you are easy on the brakes. sounds like a fairly isolated incident, so i would check on the prices of new brakes and decide if it is better to shell out the money yourself, or be without your car for a few days. then, go easy on the brakes, and see if it might be the driver.....

edit: also check for a stuck caliper. if you have an infared thermometer, drive around for a few minutes. then get out and check the temps of the rotors. i one is excessively hotter than the rest, theres the problem. or if you are feeling brave, use your hand to get the temp. i had a guy do this one time when he wanted to buy one of my xtremes. he said i think the brakes are hanging up. then he reaches down and touches the front rotors. the second try he jumped back swearing and holding his burned fingers....
