vinyl tops

oh yeah! Do a finish paint coat on there. Gotta seal it up good!

It takes two people and just a little patience. Basically spray adhesive and a warm day. Really it should be done with the front and rear glass pulled.

any other tips for installing a vinyl top besides pulling off the glass and doing it one a hot day? I have some rust on my roof and just learned that it was originally offered with a vinyl top so I'm going to grind the paint and rust off, then fill the rust spots and primer the area. Should I finish paint it? or is primer enough? any other tips?

make sure to use topcoat paint....primers absorb water. Best method is warm day so the top is nice and flexible. Fold the top and mark the centerline. Also measure and eyeball the centerline for the roof. Tape top down and fold half back (down the middle) Spray the adheasive on both top and roof of car. Then work from the center out...both forward and sides of the car. I like to move to the sides a little first and then pull the corners, then a little farther out and then a little more to the front.

I think that the vinyl is supposed to stop under the chrome drip rail, I dont think that you'll have to pull the gaskets out of the door jamb, I'm still debating weather or not to put the vinyl back on my coupe. Post some pics when ur done!!!
