You can use any key-on hot wire for an aftermarket voltmeter. Here's a tip: Take your DMM (your handheld meter), and let the motor get hot. Put a full load on the charging system and measure the voltage of the wire you want to use. Compare this reading to the reading at the battery with the same load condition. If there is a large voltage drop at the wire you want to use, you know your new in-car voltmeter will read a little low. I would find a wire/circuit that doesnt have the voltage drop.

Good luck.

Couldent you just splice into the wires for the stock voltmeter?

As long as there is not an IVR on 5N95's, you could. I dont know if there is one so I might not do it, unless one knows for sure.
