I just installed a V1 sc trim on my car and I have heard it is easy to bend the shaft
because of an overtightened belt. If there is anyone who knows how much play there should be I would really appreciate any feedback thanks

there should be 1/4 inch play in the belt side NOT being touched by the tensioner. Or the side closest to the alternator.

this info was given to me by a vortech rep.

What he said, generally I used to get the tensioner a little snug then take a 2x4 about 18" long and wack it with a mallet. That would make life easier for me.

There are square slots in the tensioner bracket that are made to fit a 1/2" torque wrench to make adjusting the tension easier. I thought there was a torque spec in the manual for setting the belt tension. I will have to look and see if I can find it.

I was surprised the manual didn't say how tight to make it or maybe I missed It. I'm installing the head unit on 9/4 hopefully. If the the 1/4" play doesn't work maybe I'll take the offer for the tensioner or If someone has a torque spec. thanks again for all the replies
