Is the vortech head unit the same on GT/Cobras? Im aware about the bracket, and other parts, just curious on the head unit. Thanks.

Yes the head units are the same.

Yea its the same, just make sure you get one with the straight dischage and not the curved. I think the only ones that have the curved discharge are on 5.0s

Thats crazy there is nothing to think about get blown and dont ever look back.

They will fit, but the cobra's have the impellors fins clipped down so they make the same boost as a GT, but at the cobra's higher RPM's. If you put a Cobra 8lb vortech kit on a GT it will make around 5lbs of boost. Vortech does have the High Output cobra kit that is just a GT blower that they install on a cobra.

I would get the supercharger, man. You can build your own blown setup for cheap.... you can end up spending more on NA and getting less power.

Plus the fact more power is just a pulley change and retune away. You cant say the same about NA.

Upon further thought, I might look into a cobra supercharger. Reason being, I have 104k on the stock block right now. Car runs great, good compression, idles fine, and I have the records of all the maintainance and oil changes. I would like to see 300rwhp out of the stock block. Hopefully, it will last 6 months to a year, but if it doesnt, its no big deal bc its not my daily driver. I figure with LT's, PI cams, and a PI intake, 5 pounds should be fairly close. Then I will take the plunge for a built short block. I figure that the less boost the old motor sees, the more likely it is to hold out for a longer time. The car wont see any track time for at least 6 months and very limited street time while I get the rear end, suspension, and everything else built. Does this sound reasonable to you blown guys?

Ill proboly look at getting a used one, if not, gonna proboly holla at Tim see what he can do for a mongoose kit minus a tune and some other stuff.
