Bracket for radio with equalizer vs without

Hello,

Is the support bracket attaching the equalizer to the head unit the same as the bracket used in cars with the non-eq head units (with bass and treble controls) that hold it together with the cubby storage below the head unit? I've acquired a NOS head unit intended for the use with the equalizer and a NOS equalizer, but I do not have a bracket with it to hold them together and need to know if the bracket from the existing setup can be transferred here. I know I need a different wiring harness for this setup and the other amp (which I also got, though not NOS), which I do not have yet.

No, the bottom plate and bracket on the EQ radio is unique to itself.

OK, thank you. Not sure how to search for getting what's needed...do you correct name and/or the part number(s)? Is the "bottom plate" a separate piece from the bracket?

Make one out of flat, plate cut to width and bent into an L shape.

Predrill a couple of holes for self-tap screws to secure it to your existing bracket.

The bracket that's used with the cubby storage? I don't have it out of the car...I wanted to wait until I can make sure I have all the parts, and also get someone to add a wireless Bluetooth receiver wired directly in to the preamp on the NOS system with the equalizer.

Is the "bottom plate" a separate piece from the bracket?

It's a separate plate that is press rivets to the bottom plate of the radio. It would be difficult to find unless someone has a trashed parts radio and is willing to separate. Better off making your own.


The bracket is different from the non-EQ radio that holds the cubby. Those brackets connect to the radio plate via 5 small rivets. Highlighted here

You can carefuly drill these out to remove this bracket, and then you can fab a bracket and use these 5 holes to rivet it back onto the plate. I think i've used low-profile 1/8" rivets to do this.

You'll just have to get a thin peice of metal and carefully bend it similar to above to make a support.

Right at 8:45, this video shows how those bottom brackets connect to the radio bottom plate.

PS, i'd be willing to buy the bracket you remove off the radio that held the cubby.
