I just got my motor back and am in the process of putting everything back on and was curious if it is possible to cap the outlet on the Water Pump that feeds the Heater Core. It looks like there is a sensor that is attached to the pipes that the line normally goes to, what would happen if that sensor is no longer used? This is going to be a drag car and see fairly little street time.

If you need these pipes/sensor and have removed your heater core, how did you plumb the lines off of the water pump? Any pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time.

The sensor needs to be used, you can put a pipe thread adapter in the intake where the black tube once screwed into, then attach the sensor there.

The bypass still needs to be used on the water pump but you cna cap off the other tube with a rubber cap and hose clamp, or if your never going to put heat back on the car, braze a copper pipe cap on it, or cut the tube off and tap the hole for a pipe plug.

check this out, you have two heater lines that feed into the firewall, right? why dont you just make a loop and bypass the heater core, then youd stil use the temp sensors and can get rid of all your heating stuff. get a hose shape like a U and just loop the inlet to the outlet. thats what id do. but beware the inlet and outlet lines are dif sizes, may need a step down or step up. PLUS YOU CAN DITCH THE HEATER LINES RESTRICTORS, wooooo.
