So I went to put on the bracket with the smog pump on it and the smog pump hits the bracket in front of it...looks like something for the brakes...anybody else have this problem? Im stuck...unless i grind off the bracket...

thats the abs module bracket your talking about has the module with tubes running into it?. loosen up the screws on it and use a pry bar to hold it in place while u tighten it down to give u the added room. You could also elongate the holes for the bracket as well. dude go to the hardware store the tap you want is not ones they sell at sears. its a national pipe thread.. ie npt its tapered. should be not hard to find and u can pick one up for like 8 bucks or less . hope this helps.

Yeah, I got that all figured out...now Im dealing with a whole new round of problems...

-the serpentine belt that vortech provides is too short
-cant get the intake elbow on the back of the supercharger
-the Professional Mass Air Systems 80mm MAF doesnt have a bracket to mount it to the fender

If anybody has any solutions let me know :D I know the elbow thing is just forcing it on there and some clearancing, I think I know what belt I have to get (Goodyear 4061037). The bracket thing I have no idea about...

make a bracket for the mafs, (get some of that strip sheet metal from the hardware stores with holes in it, bend it and put one hole in one of the nuts on the mafs and just run it to the fender, and drill it in) and just get the next size belt, and if thats too short get a size bigger... I dont even have a clue what size belt to buy for my setup, the kit came with a supercharger belt but no serpentine belt, so i dont even know if i need to, i havent put the blower on yet.

It was a tight fit and i had to loosen the alternator bracket the small ajustable sliding one to get it to fit but the one they supplyed worked. for the elbo i sprayed it down with some wd-40 and it slid on you might have to mark the angle u want it sitting at and use a rubber mallet and gently tap it to help guide it on , just make sure its going on evenly.

I had that grinding noise after my Vortech install. Took out the die grinder and trimmed that ABS bracked. What a god awful noise the smog pulley made on that bracket.

Just a note for you guys installing a Vortech kit. Install the entire kit on a work bench then have two people carry the assembly over to the car. Have them hold the unit in place while you bolt it to the head. It's not only easier but it shaves hours off.

Yeah, I just beat it to death with a hammer and it gave me about a centimeter clearance...I cant even get the belt around it without taking the pulley off. :nonono: I just went to Advance Auto and bought a longer belt and even it just barely fit...

I have everything on the car except the MSD BTM...get to start it up tomorrow for the first time in 5 days. Pretty excited yet kinda worried about all the potential problems too! :( :D

Ha-ha you know what I noticed in this pic? If you look at the smog pump pulley you can see where that ABS bracket wreaked havoc on the outer lip. This was my third time taking the unit out of the car.

I would be pretty pissed if a billet pulley like that got f-ed up...the stock one is just plastic so I guess I could deal with it getting screwed... :p
I guess I never thought about assembling it outside the car...but if you think about it, it would work great to do what you did. Theres only a couple bolts you couldnt put on from outside the car...its definately been a learning experience for me.

im at that point of putting the bracket on, and that is a great idea of assembling it outide the car, but im having a problem with getting that main bracket on, it hits the thermostat housing and wont give me clearance..i dont know if its on crooked or what because my friend was doing it and i didnt see but he told me to post about it.

also the guy i got my v-1 strim told me that it utilizes the stock serpintine belt, sounds weird to me since i am moving the alternator a bit but i'll give it a try..any tips on tapping into the oil pan?
