Well I just got my s/c put on yesterday (not tuned yet), and I was reading up on it and it said I needed to change the oil in the s/c every 6k miles.

My question is are there any other important things i need to remember to be doing as far as maintenence is concerned. Im switching to royal purple synthetic oil from here on out. What else should i do to help ensure the longevity of my motor and s/c?

don't run too much boost for the stock internals and i would get a valve cover breather (if you don't have one) so your dipstick doesn't shoot out and send oil flying everywhere! keep a closer eye on your oil level than normally and change it very regularly as well.

RP is very thin ****. It can cause problems, trust me. I've heard some bad stories.

Stick to Mobil 1, or Amsoil 5w30.

it's the procharger actually, it's internally lubricated so you don't need to tap the oil pan

LOl..If its tuned correctly there is no need for checking plugs once a month.

Besides changing the oil its no different than the service you do on it n/a.Except plugs(copper require changing a little more often 15k or so miles for best performance all the time). And MAYBE a drive belt (if you have excessive slip) But i usually changed mine once a year anyways.

BTW-dont get on it till its TUNED or you will need more than just regular maintance.

I've heard of busted lifters and rod knock. Not only that, Mobil 1 oil can withstand more heat and friction. It also has more cleaning detergents compared to other brands. Look at some tests on google, they are interesting.

Plus, Mobile 1 is $20 for 5 quarts at Walmart

May want to consider sticking to conventional Dino oil with the blower. My tuner recommends Valvoline 5w-30 on blown motors to prevent blow-by.

oil doesnt matter (dino vs synthetic).
If a car has blow by there is a issue somewhere else.Ive ALWAYS use synthetic oil in my cars(my 99 has had three different blower combos all had zero blowby )

Vortech recommends synthetic oils only, so I'm going to trust the designer on that one. I would rather trust a huge company like that, than a tuner.

is there any reason to use 5w-30 instead of a heavier weight like 10w-30 when in a blown application? I used 10w-30 because its summer and its hot as hell down here in south texas...

Honestly, I think our cars are made for thinner oil because the oil passages in the engine are small. I think you would be better off with with 5w30 oil.
