I really want the o/r pipe now but, I plan on getting longtubes later on. So what should I do? Get the pipe for the shorties now or hold out for the one for the longtubes?

Get the X-pipe for your stock headers. When the day comes that you decide to buy LT's you can always sell your X. Mid-pipes for long tube headers are MUCH cheaper than their short tube counterparts.
