The big whole with the carbon build up is threaded for a 9/16 bolt??

Assuming there is not too much build up to thread the bolts in, yes, they are 9/16-12. But if there is too much carbon build up, you won't be able to get the bolts or the plugs in without chasing the threads, which is hard to do w/ the heads on the car.

I just stuck some bolts in there with washer and used some Permatex gasket maker to seal em up. Hopefully the will hold.

They are 9/16 bolts with 12 threads per inch. Just go to Napa or lowes os something and you will see a bin labeled 9/16-12.

Leave Smog equip on (unless its a race car)! Thats just my advice. You will save yourself headaches later on. It uses like 1/8 of a horse and isnt that heavy. There will be a time when you need to pass emissions and your going to want that stuff... trust me im going through it right now and its a pain to loactate all the stuff since i sold my smog set-up to some guy that warned me about removing it.I didnt listen and now it sucks. If u dont take my advice let me be the 1st to say that I'll but your smog equipment....

Very good advice. If you remove the wrong thing, the computer will go into limp mode and the engine will loose power.

Get some education on how it works before you remove anything. Here's a book that will get you started with how the Ford electronic engine control or "computer" works.

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by Charles Probst :ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.

It's about $20 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select boo...very good, and I found it to be very helpful.

RE-read my post & the Probst book on Ford fuel injection. You'll be miles ahead of all the competition.

normally yif your county has emissions you just drive to the middle of nowhere and find someone to give you the expensive inspection.

just run a shorter belt, and bypass the smog pump, that way all you gotta do is put the longer belt back on when its inspection time.
