want a supercharger, but

i have a 2000 gt with 3:73s, Mac cat back, pro 50 shifter, and a k&N filter. looking for my next mod, thinking of a steeda CAI or a throttle body. the car has 62000 miles and i want a supercharger down the road. is it worth it to buy the CAI now or just go with a 75mm throttle body, maybe a plenum or pulleys? or an X-pipe?

depends on the type of supercharger you go with... but if I were you I would get the Xpipe you can use that no matter what mods you do down the road.

your not going to see a hell of alot out of the CAI. you will get more out of the X pipe plus a nice sound! and the X pipe will work nicely with the supercharger, especaiily an o/r one. i have the catted basanni X pipe and i almost wish i bought the o/r one just for a little more flow.

what about the TB and plenum? will it fit on my stock? and/ or add anything?

yes, and plenum will fit on the stock setup... 70mm TB will fit too, the 75 will be pushing it, but i have seen people force it over.. use soap to lube the connection to get it on. its a stretch.

and dont get a plenum if you are thinking KB, dont get a CAI if thinking centrifugal.

dude, u are helping, but i have no idea what centrifugal is? is 70mm good with a blower? cause i seem to think 75mm is the way to go, **** i dont want to spend the money on a CAI for now, but if i have to, then i will, i dont plan on getting a blower til next year

I think your best bet is the X-pipe.

You are obviously new to your car. Take it slow. No rush. Everyone seems to buy a stang, hit the forums and want to "get blown". Do your research first, do some searches on "centrifugal" and "Twin screw" and then come back.

For now, stick with the bolt-ons that will stay no matter what blower type you choose. Mainly, focus on your exhaust. Maybe some LTs, x-pipe and nice catback. That will set you back about $1,200 (not including install). Install time on the LTs is a PITA but you'll love the sound you get.

i agree with AmBo, but you should defenately go with a mid-pipe i.e (X, H or a prochamber) then go with the blower.......

the centri makes most of its boost from mid to high rpms, as for when a twin screw makes monster TQ through out the rpm range and good HP up top too

I vote for "X-pipe".

I bought a K&N FIPK and C&L plenum and 75mm TB last year. Now I'll be selling the K&N FIPK and the C&L plenum at a loss. The 75mm TB will stay with the new supercharger.

sorry, wasnt trying to go over your head. the pic below your post is a centrifugal blower. its a single "fan" that is turned by the belts to force air into the inlet system... if going with a centrifugal style (paxton, vortech, procharger are all similer in design and how they run the pipes in the gneine bay) then you can see by the pic, there is zero need for a CAI.... a TB and plenum however are very usefull as they are still used with this kind of setup. the 75mm is better yes... not disputing that, thats what i have, i AM saying however its a VERY tight fit on the stock intake tubing you will ned to heat it up a bit and whatnot/lube it with soap to get it on.

a posative displacement blower (twin screw or roots style) effectivly replaces the upper intake (plenum) and with an intercooler (a device used to cool the air temps comming into the engine between the blower and the heads)it replaced the lower intake (the black plastic housing under the plenum). these types of blowers are perfect for a new Throttle body and CAI, as they do not replace the stock units.

overall the above poster is correct, work on the exhaust, suspension, brakes first as ou aquire money and information on what to build.

Just a little to add to that. Twin screw (like my Kenne Bell) is more expensive BUT you can easily change out pulleys to up your PSI from, say, 9psi to 14psi. Also, maybe it's just Kenne Bell but the "tuned" chip I got from them wasn't going to be guaranteed without their air intake if I didn't replace my K&N FIPK to it. Maybe they just "snowed" me but I want everything perfect so I bought their air box and their 90mm MAF.

I'd go X pipe. If you want to go blower decide on what you want it to do. Is it going to be a street car o mainly a race/drag car. If you keep it a street car go with a Kenne Bell blower. If you want more of a drag strip car go with a Novi 2000 or a Vortech V2 SQ. Just my .02.
