want advice for turbo build up

I would start with a Turbo Motor out of an SVO or an old Turbocoupe. And I would NOT run a carb, I would run EFI, probably a standalone such as a megasquirt or something similar. Ported head and header, Big intercooler, TB, and lots of boost. 350 isn't Hard, but its a bomb waiting to go off if you don't build it right. I would consult the good people over at turboford for more specifics. I am running all stock electronics and I probably get about 250 or so out of mine.

This isn't my first turbo project, but its my first 4cyl project. I would know what to do if I was dealing w/ an 8 cyl.( i wouldn't have to put a turbo on it)

I will probably use a blow through carb, water/meth inj. for an intercooler, and use an MSD digital 6 (or something like that) for ignition timing as it will retard timing when it senses boost from the map sensor.
I only need to know about what it's gonna take to make the engine survive, (block, crank, rods) and what I'll have to do for a head ( stock-ported or something else altogether).

Rebuild your motor stock with forged pistons. It is highly recommended that you install some ARP rod bolts

You can use your stock EFI upper and lower intake but it is highly recommneded that you gut the upper and port and knife edge the lower intake.

A cold air intake, solid tube, and a larger throttle body is also recommended.

Stock throttle body is about 50mm. You can go here http://www.forced4.com/svostore.html#afterm and get a adapter to mount a SN95 5.0L throttle body, 60-65mm.

Replace stock injectors with probably around 46lb/hr injectors.

Get a factory E6 manifold and port it or run a 40Bob or Stinger turbo header.

Do not run a E3 manifold unless you plan on running low boost levels. The E3 is very restrictive and prone to cracking on log just in front of the turbo flange

Get a T3/T4 hybrid.

Get Stinger Performance 3 inch down pipe and run 3 in exhaust out back. Stinger has single or dual exhaust available. http://www.stinger-performance.com/

Get a Microsquirt ECU with EEC IV which is programmable with a laptop. Plugs into stock ECU harness in kickpanel and can be tuned with laptop. DIYPNP Ford 60 pin EEC-IV Unassembled Kit DIYAutoTune.com


These guys sell a prebuilt Megasquirt ECU already setup for EEC IV and comes with a basic tune so you should be able to start car and fine tune from there. Wilson Racing - Home
