If 'Silverstars' are brighter, how can they be street legal?
I though that normal halogens were already maxed out.
Since the change would essentially be a lamp swapout,
the beam pattern would be unchanged.

I had a friend that worked at a Mercedes repair shop and they were always throwing damaged lights headlights away.

So we dissasembled a few and installed the voltage transformer, wires, control module and high beam bulbs, and they worked perfect. Slight modificications to fit and we had to run the hedlights off the high beams, kept blowing low beam fuse and then ran the fog lights direct off a rocker switch. VERY bright!!!!!!

Bulb replacement isn't cheap, about 80 bucks new, but in the two years I ran that setup I never had to replace one.

Woulda been a lot easier (and safer) just to use a relay to wire 'em into the low-beam circuit - no blown fuses or heated wiring ... At $2.99, relays are your friend in wiring things up.

Every once in a while I'll blow my driver's side headlight fuse. I was wondering if it was because of a bad ground connection, or my underdrive pulleys....

Hooking it up for the high beams should work better then?

use a relay. Safer and waaaay more reliable.

it creates a whiter light. in turn giving you a crisper light. causing you to be able to see better.

Watch out for them xenon lights they sell at the ricer stores. They seem to take more amps, and melt your headlight connectors. Two of my friends that ran the $20 xenon lights had connector problems.

I haven't had any problems. They are the same amps as the stock bulbs. It's just the xenon gas in the bulbs that make them brighter.

That's not always the case. Some do use higher amps you need to double check it before you buy so you don't fry your harness. or buy a better harness if you want more amps .
