So the car does have a bit of an issue. The fuel is overheating. It didn't happen until we were doing the rolling shots Sunday night. I heard the fuel pump get louder as the car was idling. We drove another few miles and then I saw the wideband light up like a Christmas tree. The engine went fully lean. I pulled over immediately and shut it down, but I didn't take notice if I lost fuel pressure. I put my hand on the fuel pump and it was so hot that I couldn't keep my hand there for a few seconds. I let things cool down for a bit and the car started back up fine. The pump was still a little loud. We went to a parking lot to do the still shots, so the car had about 2 hours to cool down. When I primed the pump after that, everything sounded normal.
What I need to figure out is if the pump is overheating and making the fuel hot or if the fuel is getting too hot and is making the pump overheat.
Here are my thoughts:
I have braided stainless PTFE (teflon) fuel lines. There is no thick piece of rubber line, just a thin piece of tube with steel braids around it. I wonder if the steel braids are picking up too much radiant heat in the engine bay and transferring that into the PTFE tubing. Switching to nylon lines in the bay may help.
The fuel lines are near the mufflers. I have them wrapped in a aluminum sleeve, but I may need insulation and a heat shield in that area.
The lines in the engine bay may also benefit from some insulation, even with switching to nylon. That PTFE has nothing to protect it from heat. My engine bay gets incredibly hot.
I have a friend with a Flir infrared camera. I'm going to try to swing by his house this week and start shooting temps to see how hot things are getting. That will give me a good idea of if the pump is getting hot before the fuel does. I think it's a fuel heat issue though.

The feed comes from the driver side wheel well, under the brake booster into a Y and then along the firewall into the back of the rails. The returns come out the front of the rails, loop to the firewall into a Y and then across the passenger valve cover to the regulator behind the strut tower into the passenger wheel well.
