i plan to do HIDs but i see those lights dont have a "cap" that shields the end of the bulb so i dont know how well those will work.
They will glare.
HID's were never meant to run a.) without a glare shield, b.) in a diffuser-lens style reflector housing and c.) rebased in a 9004 bulb.
I know. my DD has HID's. I still love it when they flick on and the color changes from blue to white while they warm up. But they are also OEM and designed to project the light correctly.
I want to take my housings and retrofit HID projectors inside the tinted housings. That way the tint hides the projector during the day. The problem is HID lights require clear lenses. The mustang headlight is a diffuser style light BECAUSE of the fact that there is no shield in front of the bulb. It's designed that way to cut down on light. Clear lenses alone will make a huge difference, so i would look into the smoked diamond clear lenses first, before the standard smoked diffuser style that is common. The smoked diamond lights are new.
Another thing to do is but the diamond clear lenses, and simply paint the reflector with a black transluscent paint slightly or black out the edges. It's kinda like the 2001-2004 Mustang headlight. The lens is crystal clear with no tint, but the light looks smoked because of all the black trim. I kinda wanted to do something similar with a set of diamond clears
only way i can even tell my headlights are on is because the dash is lit up...stock headlights suck
