Ward's article on 05 Mustang Platform Development

With the longer wheelbase of the 2005 Mustang, I would expect pretty good interest in it as an interceptor.

I wonder why Ford never offered a police package on the '94+ Mustangs?

I know that a lot of organizations that used to have Camaro and Mustang interceptors quit using them when the Mustang was no longer available. Was it because the Camaro was not suitable?

There are stories going around that Dodge will have a rwd 4 door based on the new Chrysler 300, and that they have shown a police package to several organizations already:

I hope that Dodge doesn't use the Charger name for a 4 door!

A couple of agencies here bought 94 GT's as interceptors but they have the same problem as the camaros.... no interior room. The ingress and egress are horrible with a gun belt on. The old coupes worked because you sat more upright.

I saw Dodge's proposed police package and they were talking the rear wheel drive + a hemi. My crown vic already gets 11 mpg on duty, the hemi would be around 5 mpg, not workable for police service.

The 05 Stang with blue strobes in the fog lights would be awesome.

I don't see first year production being above 200,000 units.

What I was saying was that 250,000 units will be the demand from the customers I put in the caveat "if Ford builds to meet orders". I agree that Ford may not be able to build enough 2005's to meet the demand from the marketplace.
