Any of you ever have a problem getting something fixed on your car with it having a tune on it? I need to get the trans fixed and some people say put the stock tune back and some say don't worry about it. I did try the stock tune back on but I can't set the parameters with the stock tune for my 4.10's and tires. What should I do? Thanks.

take the tune off

I will try that again, but I need to set the computer according to my tires and gear so either way they will know I have some kinda tuner or whatever but thats only if they check. What are the odds they would do that?

I can't bring it in with my speedo way off cause then for sure they will say thats what messed up the synchros then know for sure about the gear swap.

I would take it in as is, back when I had just gears and a tune on my car I took the car in for a few things and they never once said anything.

It also depends on the dealership, some are very anal about the warranty and some are cool about it. I was fortunate to have a cool dealership to work with or else my warranty would of been voided a long time ago:lol:

I brought mine in for the trans last year when it was still under warr.(kept popping out of third). I switched my tune back. If you have an after market shifter I would changed that back too. If you do any drag racing or alot of burns outs make sure all the rubber is gone.(I thought i got it all) A Ford rep came to the dealership where my car was and looked my car up and down. The tech (who is along time friend of mine)told me that the Ford rep looked all over the car. Needless to say the voided it due to the aftermarket shifter and rubber in the wheel wells. My friend also said that Ford is really cracking down and picking apart everything that comes in. They didn't say anything about my shortie headers, cai or upper intake. The were just concerned with the shifter and rubber in the wheels. Hopefully that won't happen to you. Oh, I also put my factory h-pipe back too.

It depends on the dealer. Ask around.

I had a warped cylinder head replaced under warranty after 20k miles. I had the following at the time and made no effort to hide any of it:

Chip
4.10s
Mid Pipe
Cat back
CAI
Pulleys

They even offered to install aftermarket cylinder heads on both sides for 300 out of pocket. I didnt have the cash at the time. I regret that now.

I understand they are not responsible if they can show the mod is the cause, but how can they show it? Esp if there is a TSB on the problem anyway?

IMy car stalls, there is a TSB out for it and I have CAI. I can't even get the dealership to follow the steps on the TSB.

That is up to Ford. I can't speak for FoMoCo's Regional rep's operations. I deal with Subaru and unless a modification has caused the failure, we warranty the repairs.

A TSB is not warranty unless the vehicle is within the warranty period.
