A guy on ebay claims its a 2003 SVT Cobra Roush. After looking at the pictures its tough to argue with some of the documentation, but I know that its an 99 or 01 Cobra rear bumper, has 03-04 mirrors and hood, Roush front, side skirts and exhaust, and spoiler. Not too sure what to make of it, anybody ever seen or heard of it?

It's either an SVT or a Roush... can't be both.

Yes it can. There were 6 official Roush Cobra's produced on 03 and 5 were produced in 04. Just like Saleen, Roush released just a handful of 03/04 Cobras

However, in the case of this vehicle, it is NOT an authentic Roush Cobra. Rather, it is an 03 Cobra with a Roush body kit.

Strange. VIN checks out to be an '03 Cobra, but it also has a Roush serial number which means he didn't just buy himself a kit and throw it on. I assume he could have taken it to Roush for modification after?

Pretty slick lookin' car though.

Its definately different but what doesn't make sense is that its an 03 car with an 01 rear bumper. Maybe it was leftover cobra parts or he swapped it out for some reason?

I assume there's a chance he found a wrecked roush and put the parts on this one?

“IT HAS 82,565 MILE'S THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT @56,309 WITH ARP HARDWARE, MANLEY FORGED DISH PISTONS, NEW 4340 STEEL COBRA CRANKSHAFT … ALL RECORDS AND RECIPTS TOTALING OVER $15K IN ADD-ON'S IT HAS BEED DYNOTUNED VERY SAFE @450 RWHP AND 480 RWT THE NEW MOTOR IS SAFE TO OVER 900HP … NEW TWIN DISC CLUTCH, ADJUSTABLE CLUTCH CABLE WITH FIREWALL ADJUSTER AND NEW QUADRANT, MAXIMUM MOTORSPORTS FULL LENGTH SUB-FRAME CONNECTORS, KENNY BROWN IRS BRACE AND BUSHING'S, MAGNAFLOW X-PIPE AND CAT-BACK SYSTEM”

I call bluff
1.) Rebuilt at 56K with forged internals, and only making 450 at the wheels, That can be done with the change of a tune and pully.
2.) The “add-ons” were ONLY $15K
3.) Has anyone ever seen a Roush that did not have the Roush Seats? … no
4.) Factory SVT supercharger, instead of the Roush Charger
5.) Went to an air to air intercooler that says cobra … lol
6.) Didn’t see the riveted plate on the valve cover which says ROUSH.
7.) Anyone can make a sticker, I’m sure roush worked his majic with a few cobras however every time I have seen a roush. The car becomes a ROUSH mustang, not a GT Roush mustang, or a cobra Roush mustang.
8.) Who in there right mind would put 80K miles on a true collector like that?

Other than the sticker and emblem what on this car it there anything else which would indicate it as such… and he is only asking what price?

There are Roush-cobra's. I've even seen a Roush GT with a shaker scoop, and this was a brand new car at a Roush dealer I used to work at.

It's definately a cobra (door jam says 275/40/17 tires). I want to say it's an authentic cobra. The only thing that throws me off are the honeycomb grille, and the roush sticker looks peeled.

Roush would put on an 01 bumper to match its body lines of its ground effects.

You would want to think that it would have only a running horse or the horse in the corral with no honeycomb.

Why don't you ask this person for window stickers or call Roush?

I'm not looking at it at all, I think this guy wants a pretty hefty price for this thing and I'm more than satisfied with mine atm. I just did a quick search and it caught my eye and got me curious about it. Sounds like its possible but it still doesn't add up in my eyes.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Ever had a built shortblock machined by a top machine shop to handle 1000hp with ARP stuff? It's not as cheap as you might think.

Also, if the guy was smart, he kept the stock Eaton unit, swapped it back on and sold it as is. Probably came out on top selling the Kenne Bell or whatever FI method he was using.

OP, I would be hesitant on the car. Not a bad price, but you are rolling the dice. Make sure you drive the car first, have it checked out, and have a nice amount of cash put away for a "rainy day" fund.

Note I don't want it, just did a 03-04 cobra search to kill some time and it was one of the 1st things I saw. A cobra or fully buillt car like this just isn't practical for me right now as I only have funds for 1 car.

Yep, Roush made them for their cars. Slick idea but I'm not sure how well they hold up to spirited driving or that you would want the extra weight in the car.
