Hey guys, I just wanted to throw up a little thread about my weekend. I attended the Carlisle All Ford Nationals on saturday and the NMRA motorsport nationals at Maple Grove Raceway on sunday. I entered my car in the show on both days. Saturday was MISERABLE as it rained ALL DAMN DAY. I breifly concidered going home, but I decided to stick it out. Well, at Carlisle I didn't win anything but I breifly ran into svt2top whom I haven't seen or heard from in over a year, and I met up with some of the people from YMR. I then went to Maple Grove today. There I saw Ed C. and FINALLY got my FTI shirt and some stickers :nice: and I put my car in the show there as well. There was some SICK looking 94-95's there and I didn't think I had a chance in hell of winning anything. I got busy talking with Ed and missed the announcement of the winners. I got over to the judging area right as they were naming best of show. I walked up and asked who won the 94-95 modified catagory and the lady flipped through and said "First place... Paul Riva" HOLY CRAP! I never placed first at any show I was ever in, now I placed first at an NMRA show! I got a plaque and a jacket is being sent to me too!

In addition to winning the plaque, I got to meet Chris95SVT, SneakyPete, and Pro Killer from here. All were very cool guys. I spoke with Chris for a while before we realized who each other was. I also ran into Green9550 and gotopless from the corral. I didn't see Joes95GT as he said he'd be there... were you there Joe? Was anyone else there that I didn't meet?

i wish now i would have stuck out the rain and went with you , but i couldn't see puttingmyself thru that again last year was bad enough . i'm glad you placed now we can start on that intake lol

Thanks guys! Yesterday made sitting through the rain all day on saturday worth it. As for entering more shows... I don't know. I've never been into the car show thing as I get bored sitting around looking at my car and others. I normally go to shows, look at the cars, and leave soon thereafter. I'd rather race or watch races than do the car show scene, but I will admit it was a great feeling to win something for a change. I think I will always enter my car in the Carlisle and NMRA Maple Grove show, and if I can I will probably put it into the shows at all the other races I attend. I plan to go to the FFW event next month at Norwalk in OH and I'm planning to have the car there in the show.

The other thing that made my day was the fact that I had countless people come up and tell me how much they liked my wheels. You all know what a long and grooling process that was for me to finally decide on a set, but having all these people tell me they liked them and seeing people take pictures of my wheels and car just reinforced that I made the right choice. I've never been one to really care what other people thought of my car, but it was nice to know they liked it as much as I do! Pro Killer made me feel good too when he came up and the first words out of his mouth was that pictures didn't do it justice... that was nice to hear!

Troy and Charlie- you guys made the right choice in not coming. Sunday was good, but saturday was the most miserable day I've ever experienced. It literally NEVER stopped raining, not even for a second.

RC- I was getting into a slump too with my car as I was starting to lose interest, but man its back now in full force. Do yourself a favor and attend a FFW or NMRA race sometime... they'll make you LOVE being part of the mustang community!

Good Job..I guess my only chance to win something now is "best looking original rims":(

ANyway, I was on vacation all week, and now Im gonna be spending time with my 2 girls this summer...it seems like the "mustang craze" has been fading out for me with my busy schedule.

RC
Get your kids invovled in the mustang craze and put them to work! :p
As soon as my 9 month old can stand on her own I'm putting her under the hood to detail my engine cuz those small hands can reach into all those tight spaces.

Yep, I was there.

The original plan was for me to leave my house around 8-ish and be there by 930. Well, when I woke up, it was raining - hard. I fiddled around the house for a little while and put a new hand railing up . I got on the net to see whether it was canceled and they said it was still happening. I was actually very surprised at this considering the amount of rain I had got 75 miles south of Maplegrove.

The first full pass that I saw was Hanlon getting beat in round 1 of Elims.

I'm walking around up there with some food, checking out the cars, and it dawns on me, "Paul's here." It's not really hard to find a yellow convertible with wheels that no one else has. I walk up to it, and no one seems to be there. I stand there for about 5-10 minutes, and I even complimented some other guy thinking that that was your car. I felt like an idiot :rlaugh:. I figured we always have E-Town, SSOTN, and Atco. Sorry we couldn't meet up. I've always wanted to meet some other guys who are into the same stuff. Then I tried finding the shortest guy in the place (Ed) and couldn't find him either. Yesterday really wasn't my day.

As someone said before, pictures don't do your car justice. The time, and effort (and money) has really paid off.

The most exciting races I thought were the F/S ones. With all the controversy surrounding the 5.0 guys, it was good to see Cosby smoke his ass. Too bad he broke or backed out of it in the finals...

Joe

Yea man.. Congrats on the win.. Very well deserved.. Those rims looks absolutly stunning, they make your car stand out. :nice:

Good meeting you too, nice to put a face with a name.. Now stop screwing around with this N/A crap, and go buy a turbo..

Here are my pictures of the show and cars

First prob is that mine is a daily driver...can NEVER have it in downtime to do work on it.

Second..My lack of ability (even tho it's better) prevents me from doing stuff.

Third..As a pharmacist, I work so many damn hours that when I do get a day off, I like to take my girls to the pool or beach or something.

Paul...Do you ever have problems with paint peeling off the body kit parts?

JR...I used to say that too..My girls LOVE riding in the car, but that's about it. We'll definitely need to hook up when you come back down.

Thanks and congrats again Paul.

Congrats Paul:nice:! I have always wanted to meet some of you guys but my location (Arkansas) and my job sort of keep me out of the loop. Regardless, it is good to see someone who has put as much time and money into their car as you be recognized. RC, I am sorry to hear about you losing interest but I know how life doesn't wait around for you to mod your car. Don't worry though, some new part will come along that will set you off like a wildfire.
