Has any one ever used Cooling Mist injection kits. I was just wondering if any one has and if they had any luck. Looking at getting a kit but not sure which brand. Price seems good but what about quality?
i like my air to air IC better. there is no nozzle to clog up no bottle to go empty. w/m kits are good but i wouldnt depend on it as my only source of cooling on an engine with a lot of boost
they are not complex, especially the cooling mist kit. it operates on the suction of the blower to pull the methanol out... no chance for pump failure.
also my kit (devils own) is set to shut the fire down if the pump does not activate.
it is easy to tune and only two pulls to get it right.
methanol injection has come a LOOOONNGGG way recently with all the new competitors to the market. A huge advantage of methanol over an air ot air is the added octane.. it works wonders at retarding knock. you will be able to run more timing and compression hence more power.
with all that said, I would get the Snow kit made for the mustang if I did it again..... and I will
my kit uses a 3 bar map sensor that I instaleld while the snow kit is all contained inside the controller. it is a very nice product and I have not read of any failures.
I have blown some motors, but none were due to detination.. most oiling issues from oil pump gears and a broken hose during a WOT run.
Methanol works GREAT! you can actually feel it even over the boost when it hits, an extra 50 rwhp is a kick in the ass,
When I asked what other li'l bolt-ons could go on my car, I was told, "with what you have now, you'd be better off just going straight to a supercharger; don't spend time and money on any more small stuff that won't make the big difference in power that you want."
Makes sense, but I'm impatient! It'll take awhile to save up for an s/c. In the meantime I want more power without blowing up the engine.
Which do you think for a N/A 4.6 2-valve V8 with a Procharger P1SC in its future - methanol or nitrous?
Or just follow the sage advice of the guy who helped build this car and restrain myself? The Procharger comes with an intercooler. I'm guessing it would bring the car to 360 rwhp on a conservative tune and minimal boost, so that leaves wiggle room of 40 more hp before the stock engine starts to stress out.
I dont think the gains on an N/A car will be worth the hassle,
I dont like using Nitrous as a charge cooler because it is an oxidizer and puts more strain on the fuel system vs methanol which is a fuel and actually helps the fuel system.
wait it out and get the procharger, it will have the intercooler and make more power than the stock SB can take with a simple pulley swap.
