water pump install????

It's not bad at all, drain the coolant, take off the belt and pulley. When you take off the w/p bolts, try to keep them in some kind of order cause they're all different. Just make sure to clean off all the old gasket and replace the heater hose + bypass hose while you are there.

I like to grab my new pump and toss the bolts into the bolt holes in the new pump as I remove them from the old pump. Then when both pumps are out, transfer the bolts back to the old pump. Now install the new pump. Keeps bolt confusion down to a min.

Good instructions above from thegreentaco - I've done this a few times on our cars, all I can add is to go ahead and change out the thermostat.

Put a *thin* film of RTV on the gasket.

I like to use a light grit sandpaper on the mating surfaces and then rub them down with brake cleaner on a rag.

If you haven't bought a pump yet, the Stewart Stage 1 is an excellent piece - even comes with RTV and a gasket.

On the bolts, as I remove them I have the new pump sitting on a cardboard box - just stab the bolts through the new pump into the cardboard to keep them in order, when you get the old pump out, just transfer the bolts over - you're guaranteed not to mix them up this way.

Bleeding the system is important as well and is sometimes a PITA on our cars because of how high the radiator hose goes up - get the car up to temperature to open the tstat and squeeze the upper hose w/ a shop rag while the radiator cap is off, you'll see lots of bubbles.

Might also want to get a new radiator cap as well, vented is what I like.

EDIT: As you remove some of the bolts you'll notice they've got RTV and rust on them, clean them off with a wire brush and put some RTV back on the bolts when you install them.
