Hi all! Im reinstalling the Waterpump after a H/C/I install, and it's leaking like crazy. We checked the gaskets and RTV'ed were needed and it still leaks. Are there any special tricks to getting this thing to work? I havent fired the car up yet, due to this little set back. HELP

Not much else you can do. Pull it off, make sure the mating surfaces are nice and flat... when I did mine, I used the gasket and plenty of RTV. I also gave it a nice 24 hours for the RTV to setup. Also, it's a long shot... but the backplate on the WP has 2 bolts to hold it in place. Make sure those are tight.

Good luck

Well double check and make sure all the crazy bolts are in their right spots. i never liked all the different length bolts ford uses. put a bead of rtv on the backing plate stick the gasket to that let it sit and become tacky and put a bead around the water pump. let both beads sit for a couple minutes then try installing the pump. when you do the bolts do each one on a criss cross pattern a little at a time and once they are torqed let the rtv sit for awhile then hopefully it wont leak

Did you check the inner gasket between the pump and the backplate or just the outer gasket between the plate and the engine block? I had to go in and RTV one side of both gaskets, tighten the plate bolts, and then bolt the pump to the block on my brother's '89 GT...no leaks.
