i just installed an autometer electric watertemp gauge and all is good but now the check engine light stays on.the gauge cane with a new sending unit and the old one had prongs in it whereas the new one has only one connection on it.do i have to splice the other wire in from the old connector or is it something else i'm missing?everything was ok prior to this install.please advise! !

Sounds like you removed the wrong thing. The stock coolant temperature sending unit is on the drivers front of the lower intake & has only 1 wire. The coolant temperature sensor for the computer (has nothing to do with the gauge) is located on the heater supply pipe on the passenger front of the intake & has a plastic connector with 2 wires.

If you disconnected the coolant temp sensor (2 wires) instead of the sending unit (1 wire), that is why you have a check engine light.

i found out after i had put it on a tread.you're right it's on the driver side in front on intake.i guess it pays to do your homework before starting on something.thanks for the input,i appreciate it.it works now!
