my brother in law is putting a 302 from a lincoln in his 66 stang, he used a new waterpump ment for a lincoln for the project, but he has an edelbrock intake, so the 2 tubes coming off the water pump we are lost as to where there going to go. Does he need a water pump off of a different year motor or what?

The two small tubes coming out of the water pump go to the heater core.

The large tube goes to the bottom pipe in the radiator.

The upper radiator pipe goes to the thermostat housing (on the end of the intake).

Depending on the year of the 302, the wp might be a reverse rotation model. As long as you keep the belt routing from the Lincoln you won't have any problems there.

What year Lincoln? You pobably need a pump and timing cover meant for a '66.

use 5/8 rubber heater hose, from the firewall to the manifold port and upper smaller outlet on water pump, then get a small elbow from the t stat housing top water pump.

On all small block water pumps, the two small nipples: the upper one goes to the thermostat housing-bypass nipple. The lower one is routed to one of the heater hoses.

Nothing, other than having to deal with trying to route the hoses across each other

Those 2 small nipples are both inlets to the pump, they both serve the same function. With all the mods and motor you've got, you need the largest radiator you can fit in there, along with the airflow needed to transfer the heat. I don't know what radiator you've got, but you've got a big block power-producing motor in a car that had marginal cooling even with the small block radiator they came with.

I have the be cool 2 row stock size.My buddy is telling me to cut the core support and out in a 5.0 radiator, because his car struggles to get above 150-160*(very built 289,11 second car).My car ran at 180 in 70* temp to a cruise and then reached 210 when i got there.

Thats weird on my 1967 289 cougar the hose that is supposed to go to the heater is going to the top of the intake manifold. Is this normal? I just bought the car so I dont know the history. Note: I dont have a heater or A/C

Nothing weird about that, one heater hose goes into the top of the water pump, the other into the top of the intake. The coolant flows from the intake to the heater, then out to the waterpump.

Cool I was a little worried there. So basically since I am not using my heater I am just bypassing the heater and running the hose straight to the intake...
