Does anyone know if there is a water pump available that has the inlet on the drivers side? I have a big block radiator that I would like to install in a 1968 302. I know there are aluminum radiators for this swap, but they are too expensive for a car that is not driven a lot.
yep, grab a waterpump from something like a 76 granada with the 302, it should have the passenger side inlet. or you can get on from an 83 grand marquis as that one also has a driver side inlet.
From 1970 on even the 302 Mustang had the inlet on the LH side, so it'll be easy to get. Hard to set the timing, though, with the hose on top of the timing marks.

All he needs then is the 70's bolt on timing pointer. This is the only one I have left out of 5 I had. Sold the others one at a time on ebay for $20 a piece. He'll also need to remark the balancer to time it or swap to a 70-up unit.

As the others have said, any 70-91 302 water pump will have the drivers side inlet, just stay away from the 79-up Mustang units, these are reverse rotation pumps. Most are available thru your local parts house in HP(low volume, small impeller), std volume or HV (large impeller) The HV pumps are listed as "extra cooling" or "police/taxi" applications. If you want an aluminum pump, look for a mid 1988 to 1991 Crown Vic pump. All the others will have cast iron bodies.

Re-marking should not be too difficult, it's exactly 90°, the easiest way would be if he can find an appropriate degree tape from a speed equipment supplier.
Switching balancers, on the other hand, would require changing all the pulleys and brackets, a major project.

If you cannot find a 70's pointer (or you can also use a later one from a Crown Vic) there are various aftermarket pointers along with the tape you can use.

OK, your easy way out is to get a "conversion" balancer, which will give you the LH pointer marks, and 3-bolt pulley connection to use 69 pulleys and brackets.
