ok i go to take my car for the first drive with the new motor and i find that it doesnt go into gear with the car ON.. only goes into gear with the car OFF.. and say i start the car in first.. holding the clutch the car moves forward!!.. if i start in reverse the car moves back.. with the clutch engaged?!  whats going on?

Dude i'm having the same fu cking problem, it sucks!! I tried adjusting the cable and I tried a new cable and no dice. My next thing i'm gonna try is push the car into the street and start it up in gear and hopefully if I keep doing that the clutch will unstick itself and be fine.

See this post and follow what marius suggested. This is what i'm gonna try. http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=689775

I am also having problems getting into gear when the car is at a complete stop and the engine is on... if I am rolling it goes in fine. I replaced the quadrant, cable, and added a firewall adjuster and still no change. I am gonna try to change the tranny fluid(red line D4) because I doubt that has ever been done but this is beginning to get to me... my leg is getting a hell of a workout holding the clutch in at stop lights. I have a centerforce stage 2 if that helps any.

hey guys, how far did you tighten the cable?? 99.999% of the time (with substitutions) your clutch cable is not too loose. here is what is going on....

Your clutch cable is too loose. When you step on the clutch, therefore, the pressure plate is not pulling back from the disc and flywheel all the way. Because the cable is too loose, the pressure plate is still partially grabbing the engine, and spinning. For this reason, you can't get the ****er into gear, or it's super hard to get into gear.

Tighten up the adjustment.

read the thread in my sig to get a full understanding of this.

Jstang, I just fixed my problem. Try what someone on my thread suggested and it might work. Here is what he said:

So I put it in 5th gear this time, started the car (on jack stands) and bang it broke loose. Why? I have no idea but I'm sure glad I tried it one last time!

Once it broke free on the stands you should have gone through the gears a few times and pressed the clutch pedal a bunch of times too. Then try and go for a spin around the block a few times and see how it feels.
