Anyone know how much the stock power seats weigh?

I was thinking of switching over to lightweight seats. And possibly a rear seat delete

i think the rear seats are like 60 or 70 pounds, no idea on front seats tho, curious myself

so you are losing weight, if you want to get rid of front seat weight; go kirkey seats.

and do some cardio and stuff, driver mod ftw..

Im a solid 225 so I dont want to lose any weight. Although it would be nice to be 215 for spring

Thanks for the seat reference, but Im pretty sure you knew I meant a DD kind of seat

im 150 lbs, ahh the joys of being light.... only advantageous in some situations though hehe

yea take spare tire out, jack etc...

im thinking about getting my stock exhaust removed and replaced with straight pipes, how much weight do you think that would drop? both mufflers

back leather seats are 46lbs, front driver leather is 52lbs, passenger side is 40lbs. Wheel and tire spare are 25lbs. Tire and tire iron 7lbs.

Good then it is possible to lighten the stang 200lbs.

Dumped exhaust instead of out the back. Alum driveshaft. Corbeau seats, rear seat delete.

Whats a good light weight battery?

Tubular K member and Control arms your looking to drop about 70#s, aluminum front crash bar is worth like another 30#s at least.

If its your daily driver, DONT take out your spare tire/jack. I did this, got a nail at 3am, and it was a LOOOOONG night.

Take out your tire when you go to the track, sure. But leave the damned thing in the car regularly, its there for a reason.

Coilovers will also drop some weight along with lightweight wheels. K-member and A-arms total savings depends on which manuf. you go with. Seats would be the next big thing, and if you are really looking at getting picky, go with the aluminum shortblock the Explorers come with but since you have already built your engine, I would assume you went that route already. Oh, don't forget the dogbone

I know my Corbeaus took a bit of weight out, especially compared to the driver's seat with the electronics. I still need to get that darn rear seat delete though, or get off my lazy butt and make one...

Ill be looking for ways to drop some weight in my 00 GT once I install my 13W7 sub (Soon), The sub + box + 1000w JL amp will add over 110lbs.

The aluminum front crash bar is exactly what it sounds like. The crash bar on the front of the vehical behind the bumper cover is what absorbs most of the impact in a front end collision. I can't remeber which company makes it but it is a significant weight difference between the stock steel one and the aftermarket aluminum. I am not sure however if it meets crash standards. When I picked up the two side by side it felt about 30-40#s difference.

Your best bet it to go after driveline weight. Flywheel, driveshaft, light weight wheels...

If you can do without the back seat, yank it. If you think spending a few hundred bucks to drop 40lbs or so for a pair of front seats, I would say you are crazy... but if you have the $, go for it.

Are you making a track car, or just a lighter DD?

Weight reduction is expensive when done right, but 01blkGT made some good suggestions with the K-member and suspension components. Kind of kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

You can remove your quad shocks if you have aftermarket lower control arms. Taking out the Mott bar(dogbone) on the rearend also helps or removing the front sway bar if the car is mostly drag only.

The biggest improvement would be rotational weight. The general rule is removing 100lbs of the vehicle weight or 10lbs of rotational weight takes off .1 in the quarter mile. So something like a lightweight flywheel will reduce vehicle weight, rotational weight, make your car rev quicker, and increase power to the wheels.
