In short my wideband gauge is on/gets power when I touch the brakes otherwise it will not work. The REALLY funny thing is the gauge will work with the ground hooked up or disconnected?????????????????

It was sorta nice out today...high in the 40's so I went out and messed with the wideband and gauge. I have the blue wire grounded to a separate ground, I have the red power tapped into the red wire with green stripe (as per wes's install guide) and the white/green wire grounded to were the eec is ground again as per Wes's guide.

I tapped my gauge power to the same red with green stripe wire as the source....funny thing is...the ground is not hooked up and the gauge flashes/turns on when I touch the brakes :eek::jaw::nonono:.

I have no friggan idea WTF is going on? there are no shorts...did I tap the incorrect wire?

Well I have an LC1 that it is hooked up to (stereo plug). The LC1 is hooked up and wired. However, the actual o2 part is still not threaded in and plugged into the LC1.

The gauge is a funky issue...I mean the ground is not hooked up at all. The gauge only has 2 wires outside of the stereo wires. Power and ground....I have NO idea were it is getting the ground from....unless it is grounding with the stereo wire through the LC1. But then why is the gauge only coming on when I hit the brake peddle?

I already programmed the gauge with the laptop with a 9v batt. so I know it is in working order.

One question...everyone in the how to hook up a wideband threads mentions pin numbers...I looked at the connectors, the plugs, on the outside/edges of the connectors, the back sides of the connectors, the inside were the red part is on the 3 plugs outside of the eec and even the one that plugs into the eec. Not one had a pin number on it. I know I have seen them before on connectors but these have NONE.

My power is hooked up EXACTLY like Wes's...the picture is EXACTLY like mine...yet I hit the brakes and my gauge turns on while I HOLD THE GROUND in my hand unhooked from ANYTHING. The more I think about this the more flat out stupid this sounds. I do not even have a hint of a clue what is going on. Its like my car is a British car from decades ago or something.

Another crap thing. Its going to be in the teens for the high the next week or more.

The pins for the O2 sensors are 43 & 44 (left & right). See this link

EMS Instructions

and go to EMS 30-4101 for a picture of the connector. They are on the top row left side and are the 3rd and 4th in from the left side. On the assumption that the connections are the same or similar to the Zeitronix controller red is switched power & black is ground. The other color leads from the contoller for the LS1 may be unique but there should be a sensor ground (EMS ground reference) & WB output as well as other leads depending on functionality.

If it were me I'd change the power feed to an ignition on/run lead with a dedicated ground from the battery.

First off, be sure that the blue and white wires are grounded to the same spot (you’re better off using the block as the ground)….and be sure all unused wires are taped up. The black ground wire from the xd-16 needs to be grounded to the same spot as the lc-1. Likewise, the red wire from the xd-16 needs to go to the same key on, non dimmed source as the lc-1’s red wire. Also be sure you are using the serial “out” from the lc-1 to the serial “in” on the xd-16 gauge. Lastly, be sure you have the second stereo plug not in use….plugged.

This is were I get so much conflicting information about the LC1. Wes's page says to connect the green and white wire to the eec ground and the blue wire to a sep. ground.

Threads on eectuning say to connect either the white and green together at the same ground, tap into pin 46, or ground seperate. While they say to ground the blue wire seperate.

Here is another setup...everyones seems to work (except mine).

WHO IS CORRECT??????? they are all totally different ways and each way says it will not work the other way???????

I can see if my LC1 is hooked up to the brake power or something and at this point the only thing I can think of. I am going to sit and stew over this until next weekend....as it is going to be in the teens for a high all week.

As per the lc-1 instructions, the blue and white wires need to be grounded together. The strongly recommend soldering on a lug to connect the two wires and then bolt them to the heads. If you solder them to different locations, you will likely have issues with offset grounds. Simply follow the instructions per innovative's website and you'll be alright.
