My friend has got a 2000 Gt and his horn sounds "wimpy"...almost "girly" like ...what could be causing that...it doesn't sound like my 2000 Gt so I know something is wrong with it...sounds like a Geo Metro horn or something...

Any ideas?

Bad ground? Loose connection??

My horn on my 2003 sounds a bit girly as well. It's loud but it just sounds odd. I hate using it.

I might just go to Autozone and buy those "Highway Blaster" extra loud horns. I have them on my '88 and love laying into it when people do stupid things around me. They are much louder and get attention

Yeah I noticed this too a few weeks ago. Ah well, I'm not really all that concerned about how loud or mean my horn sounds.

Anybody else have an idea...what would cause it to be weak...I personally like to rev it up but sometimes the horn can do a better job...it is just one of those little things that bothers him...

Anybody? What do I need to check?

Check to be sure that the horn hasn't gotten some water in it (think car wash or high water). Unplug it, unbolt it, and see it you can empty any water out of it. I would be willing to bet this is your problem. It is in the driver's front fender . . .

Theres a TSB on the horns of 99/00 GTs. They go bad after a while...

My friends 99 GT had this problem, it was soooo hilarious to be driving along hearing him honking around, sounds like a v8 moped coming up on you.

So where is this TSB located at? in the driverside fender? How much to replace something like that...

Yeah his car sounds like a V8 moped...

TSB is a technical service bulletin... meaning its a documented problem.
Ford might cover it, it'd be worth a shot to take it down and see if you can get it fixed there. I think they do that with all the old non-pi intakes that crack.

Lol...yeah I know what "that" TSB is...I just figured maybe it stood for something else related to the horn problem...hmm...I guess I'll just tell him to go to a dealership (the dreaded place they rip you off at) since there isn't any common reasons for this problem...
